HISTORY[]
=The Sovereign Class starship is one of the most advanced, and beautiful, ships ever commissioned by Starfleet. The graceful curves of her hull, with few sharp angles, belies the immense power of this most impressive vessel.
=Built as a follow on to the Galaxy class starship, Sovereign is classified as a tactical explorer, capable of serving most functions of a Starfleet vessel. Her sleek hull and natural beauty make her a prime choice for diplomatic missions, and her combat systems are powerful enough that the Valderans classify the vessel as a Heavy Cruiser (Quite a compliment from a species who's own Heavy Cruisers are some hundred meters loner and a few hundred metric tonnes heavier).
=Sovereign has also been the template for numerous new vessels. Starfleet's Shiloh Class Starship and Georgia Class are both based on the successful Sovereign class.
=The USS Sovereign was launched in 2371 to much acclaim. Following her launch came the Enterprise and Veroto. Since 2371, The Sovereign class has become a fixture in many fleets. Since construction began 15 years ago, more than 20 of the massive, beautiful ships have been built, and orders are still coming. It is expected that Sovereign will be in production for at least another decade, and the total run may exceed 50 ships.
